Author and activist lisa luxx completes September’s jam-packed release with a new DEI mission on understanding pronouns beyond the binary. The intention of this mission is for learners to have the language and background to be supportive of their colleagues or employers.
Internal Mobility
Personal Career Development
Career mobility is up to each person to examine and define – you decide how and when you'll grow. In these three missions by Dr. Bev Kaye, you will discover a framework with six possible ways to grow, develop, and learn. These can all be building blocks to create your unique career pattern. Learn how to create conversations between you and your managers that help you reach your full potential.
Talent Hoarding
Good management is foundational in a strong approach to internal mobility. But unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. Tasked with reaching performance goals themselves, managers are reluctant to lose star employees, resulting in a phenomenon known as talent hoarding.
Talent hoarding is the most significant barrier to internal mobility and retention. In this mission, Dr. Bev Kaye will show you the importance of shifting from talent hoarding to talent sharing.
Onboarding
Enable and engage new hires
Continuing the theme of empowering employees, we’ve added two new missions to help new hires set themselves up for success. Dr. Bev Kaye explains the power of conversation and the importance of looking for feedback.
Re-boarding existing employees
Managing your employees' leave of absence can be a make-or-break journey that dramatically impacts satisfaction when (if) they return to the workplace. Will it be a positive impact or a negative one? Jen Henderson and Kait Feeney share how to stay on top of ever-changing leave policies, wrangle remote workforces, improve manager communication, and streamline processes to make navigating today's LOA landscape a dream for leaders and their people.
Recruiting
Reasonable accommodations are ways in which we can adjust our hiring process and employment policies to enable everyone to do their best work. This includes specific adjustments for disabled people, but not everyone has a label or a diagnosis, who could benefit from accommodations.
In Reasonable Accommodations (RAs) - How to Build an Inclusive Assessment Strategy, you'll hear from the experts on how to make small adjustments to work practices and hiring processes that are a huge deal to those who need them, from a range of perspectives - physical disability, neurodivergence, gender non-conforming, and low socio-economic backgrounds.
Interviewing
In Inclusion Spotlight: How to Build a Fair Interview Process for People From Low Socioeconomic Backgrounds by Dr. Joanna Abeyie, you’ll learn how to support candidates from a low socio-economic background to ensure they are prepared and confident when interviewing. Whether you are a manager, a recruiter, or are simply keen to make sure that your organization reaches a diverse group of people, this mission will give you the insights you need to start building a more inclusive hiring process.
DEI
In this mission, author and activist lisa luxx explains how to understand pronouns beyond the binary. Learn why people use particular pronouns and what is meant by phrases such as ‘non-binary’, or ‘gender fluid’, plus more.
Leadership
Trust is a key component when it comes to measuring the state of inclusion in an organization. As a leader, it's your job to create an inclusive, high-trust environment. In this new mission, Trust-driven Inclusive Leadership by DEI and mental health expert Vessy Tasheva, you will learn about trust-driven leadership, with practical strategies to help you become a more inclusive leader.
